Kora

Native Android file manager and media player: no ads, no telemetry, fully offline.

Screenshots coming soon

A Kotlin and Jetpack Compose app designed to replace Files by Google and third-party players with a single app you own. Explorer with queued operations and conflict handling, per-volume trash, batch rename; Media3 audio and video playback in the background with per-file resume; PDF reader, code viewer, archive browsing with zip-slip protection; storage map and duplicate detection by SHA-256 hash.

The problem

On Android, managing files and playing media takes several apps full of ads and telemetry, unusable without a network.

My role

Personal project specified in a requirements document and delivered batch by batch, with decisions recorded as ADRs.

Period

Juillet 2026

Technical decisions

  • Fourteen Gradle modules (six `core`, seven `feature`) with in-house convention plugins, modelled on Now in Android.
  • Two flavours: `full` with all-files access and `safc`, Play Store compliant through the Storage Access Framework.
  • Data safety: atomic copies, cleanup that always goes through the trash, duplicates detected by hash and never by name.

Outcome

Six batches delivered (explorer, images, audio, video, documents, storage); the app replaces third-party tools day to day.
