A platform built from scratch on a phased plan: students, admissions, grades and report cards, finance and mobile money payments, timetables, attendance, messaging and an admin console. FastAPI backend with async SQLAlchemy on PostgreSQL (one schema per school), Redis and Arq for jobs, MinIO for files, Meilisearch for search. Next.js frontend and a Flutter mobile app for parents and teachers, synchronised offline.
The problem
Schools in the region run enrolment, grades and fees on paper or spreadsheets. They needed a tool several schools could share without ever seeing each other's data, usable by parents on phones that are often offline.
My role
Large personal project: full design, architecture and development across backend, web and mobile.

Technical decisions
- Strict isolation with one PostgreSQL schema per school (`SET search_path`) and no tenant column on business tables; a cross-tenant leak was caught by tests, fixed and documented.
- Fully dynamic RBAC, personal data encrypted at rest, an immutable audit log kept by a PostgreSQL trigger, GDPR export and anonymisation.
- Offline mobile: actions are replayed on reconnection, guaranteed by idempotent APIs.
- Atomic mobile money collection (`SELECT FOR UPDATE`), tested with concurrent payments; CI fails if a single fr/en translation key is missing.
Outcome
More than 170 endpoints, close to 300 automated tests (pytest, Vitest, Flutter), containerised deployment with monitoring, and a showcase school for demos.
